Volume 2
Afterword
Greetings, this is Tarou Hitsuji.
I am delighted to announce the publication of Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor, Volume 2.
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the editors, publishing staff, and all the readers who supported and cheered for the first volume. Thank you so much!
Now, regarding the release of Volume 2, the first thought that comes to mind is:
“This protagonist is as hopeless as ever…”
I’m almost exasperated with myself for writing him this way, but even though Glenn showed some improvement after the events of Volume 1, he continues to unabashedly display his utterly deplorable nature. Well, people don’t change so easily, do they? In that sense, I suppose he’s a rather human protagonist.
Honestly, I wish Glenn would take a page out of my book.
You see, back in my student days, I was so engrossed in mahjong that it interfered with my studies—the very duty of a student. Realizing this wouldn’t do, I resolved to focus on my academics and successfully retired from mahjong. And I managed to do so three times! Impressive, right?
As this demonstrates, if a person has the discernment to identify what truly matters and the noble, unwavering resolve to act on it, they can transform themselves no matter how hopeless they may seem.
Well, Glenn is still a protagonist, after all. As the story progresses, I’m sure he’ll learn and grow mentally in his own way.
…Or so I mused, playing mahjong with colleagues at work during a break after finishing the manuscript for Volume 2.
What? Oh, come now, I know exactly what you’re all thinking!
Relax! It’s perfectly fine! I wasn’t gambling at all—no money was involved! Gambling is a big no-no, absolutely.
Now, putting such trivial matters aside, Volume 2 also serves to flesh out elements of the worldbuilding that couldn’t be fully explored in Volume 1. What kind of culture and history does this world have? What countries exist? Who are the characters at the magic academy? Through the event of the Magic Games Festival, I hope to delve deeper into the world of *Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor*.
I hope you’ll enjoy this tale of a young man who’s still a bit too childish to be called an adult. Here’s to Volume 2—thank you for your support!
